Reflection

Overall this quadratics unit was very interesting. I learned about parabolas and the different forms of equations. This entire unit was completely new to me, and I enjoyed learning concepts I was unaware of before. At first it was a bit difficult because there was so much new terminology and new concepts. However after I took the time to actually everything and practice it, it became fairly simple. After I started understanding it was easier to grasp onto the next lessons because everything sort of linked together.

My first quadratics test was based on the parts of the parabola, vertex form equations, and transformations. I received a decent mark of 81% overall on this test. I noticed I needed more practice with motion word problems since that was my greatest weakness in this assessment.

For the second part of quadratics we learnt factoring. At first factoring was easy, however as we learned more types of factoring it started getting confusing because I didn’t know which method I should use to factor the different types of polynomials. Although after practicing everything was easier to understand. My second assessment was about all types of factoring. I got an overall 90% on this test. After looking at the test after it was marked I could tell I knew what I was doing for all the questions, however I made a few minor mistakes while factoring and graphing, which was were I lost marks.

Quadratics was a long and fairly difficult unit. However, I noticed that if you spent enough time to understand and practice, if understood it. From my tests I could tell that I understood the questions however I always made little mistakes which I could have avoided if I had the chance to check my work. I always struggle to finish my assessments on time, therefore I start to rush them so I could finish. As a next step I want to make sure I have enough time at the end of all assessments to check my work.
